Terms of Service
Last updated: October 31, 2026
The short version: we host events, not matchmaking, and we can't promise outcomes. Applications are reviewed and approval isn't guaranteed. Treat everyone with respect, keep other guests' information private, and look after your own safety. We don't run background checks. You attend at your own risk, and our liability is limited to what you paid for your ticket. The full terms below are what count.
1. Agreeing to these terms
These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and Mahalla Events LLC ("Mahalla," "we," "us," or "our"), a Michigan limited liability company. They apply when you visit mahallaevents.com, apply to an event, buy or receive a ticket, sign up for our emails, or attend a Mahalla event.
By doing any of those things, you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Refund & Cancellation Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use our website or attend our events.
You must be at least 18 years old to buy a ticket or apply to an event. Some community events welcome younger guests with a parent or guardian, as described in section 10.
2. What Mahalla is, and isn't
Mahalla hosts in-person social events for the Muslim community in Metro Detroit, including singles socials for people who are seeking marriage and community gatherings such as workshops and socials.
We host events. We are not a matchmaking agency, marriage broker, counselor, or religious authority. We create a structured, comfortable setting for people to meet. We do not promise that you will meet anyone, receive interest from anyone, or find a spouse, and we are not responsible for the outcome of any connection, conversation, or relationship that begins at or after our events.
3. Applications and invite-only events
Some events, including our singles events, require an application. For those events:
- Approval is not guaranteed. We review every application and decide who to invite at our sole discretion. We consider things like age range, life stage, and keeping numbers balanced. We may decline any application, and we're not required to explain why.
- Your information must be true. You agree that everything in your application is accurate and that you're applying for yourself. For singles events, you confirm that you are single and not currently married, that you are seeking marriage, and that you meet the event's age range.
- Misrepresentation ends your participation. If we learn that information you gave us is false or misleading, we may cancel your registration or remove you from an event without a refund, and we may decline future applications.
- Invitations are personal. If you're approved, you'll get a private registration link by email. It's for you only. Please don't share or forward it. You must register within the time stated in the invitation, currently 24 hours, or your spot may go to someone else.
4. Tickets and registration
- Tickets are sold through our ticketing provider, and payments are processed by third-party payment providers. Their own terms also apply to your purchase.
- A ticket admits the named attendee to the specific event, date, and session shown. For events with separate sessions or ticket types, such as age groups or balanced spots, you must attend the session you're registered for.
- Prices, early bird deadlines, and capacity are shown on each event page. For application-based events, early bird pricing is based on the date you submitted your application.
- Refunds, transfers, and cancellations are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
- We may refuse entry if you can't confirm your identity at check-in, arrive after check-in closes, or have breached these terms.
5. Code of Conduct
Mahalla is committed to a respectful, welcoming environment. Everyone who attends agrees to:
- Treat other guests, our team, and venue staff with kindness and respect.
- Respect personal boundaries, including physical space and someone's choice to end a conversation or not share contact details.
- Keep conduct and dress modest and respectful, in keeping with the community our events serve.
- Not bring or use alcohol or illegal drugs at any event, or arrive under their influence.
- Not photograph, record, or livestream other guests without their clear permission.
- Not sell, promote, recruit, or solicit at events without our written permission.
- Follow the venue's rules and the reasonable instructions of our team.
Harassment, discrimination, threats, intimidation, unwanted physical contact, or disruptive behavior of any kind will not be tolerated, at the event or afterward through contact information obtained from it. We may remove anyone who breaks this Code of Conduct without a refund, and we may decline their future applications and registrations. If something makes you uncomfortable, please tell a member of our team right away or email us.
6. Your safety and meeting people
Please read this section carefully.
- We do not run background checks or verify identity. Our application review is not a criminal, identity, marital-status, or reference check. We rely on the information guests give us and cannot confirm that it is true.
- You are responsible for your own interactions. You decide whom to speak with, what to share, and whether to stay in touch. We are not responsible for the conduct of any guest, during or after an event.
- Use good judgment after the event. Meet in public places, tell someone you trust where you're going, involve family or a wali where appropriate, and never send money or share financial details with someone you've just met.
- If you believe someone is a danger to others, please tell us and, if needed, contact local authorities.
7. Sharing interest and attendee information
At some singles events, you may be able to share interest in other guests or see the profiles of people who attended the same event.
- Mutual interest. When two people share interest in each other, we connect them.
- Follow-up introductions. If someone shares interest in you and you didn't select them, we may email you to ask whether you'd be open to connecting. To make that introduction, we may share their first name and profile with you, but only if they've agreed to let us reach out on their behalf. We share contact details only when you both say yes. If you say no or don't reply, we don't connect you, and we don't tell the other person why.
- Profiles are private to attendees. Profile information is shared only with people who attended the same event, never publicly.
- Keep others' information confidential. You agree not to screenshot, copy, share, post, or misuse another attendee's profile or contact information, and not to contact anyone who hasn't agreed to be connected with you. Breaking this rule is a breach of the Code of Conduct.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we share and when.
8. Photos and video
We may take photos or video at events to share what our gatherings look like. We will not publish photos or video in which you can be identified unless you've given permission, for example at checkout, on a sign-up form, or in writing. Wide shots in which no one can be identified, and photos of spaces, food, and materials, may be used without individual permission.
At singles events, we do not publish identifiable photos of guests unless they've clearly opted in. If you change your mind about a photo you agreed to, email us and we'll remove it from our website and social accounts going forward. We can't recall printed materials or posts others have already shared.
9. Assumption of risk and release
Our events may involve walking, outdoor settings and weather, games, crafts and their tools and materials (such as scissors, paint, and needles), and food and drinks served by venues. These carry ordinary risks of injury, illness, allergic reaction, and loss or damage to property.
By attending, you confirm that you participate voluntarily, that you understand these risks, and that you're responsible for deciding whether an activity is suitable for you. Please tell us before the event if you have a need we should know about, and check ingredients with the venue if you have a food allergy.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Mahalla Events LLC and its owners, team members, and volunteers from any claims, losses, or liability arising from your attendance or participation, including claims based on ordinary negligence. This release does not apply to gross negligence or intentional misconduct, or to anything else the law does not allow to be released.
10. Children and minors
- Singles events are for adults only, within the age range shown for each event.
- Some community events welcome younger guests as stated on the event page. A parent or legal guardian must buy the minor's ticket, stay with them for the whole event, and supervise them at all times. The parent or guardian accepts these terms, including section 9, on the minor's behalf.
11. Venues and other businesses
Our events take place at venues we don't own or operate, such as cafés, restaurants, and outdoor sites. We also rely on outside services for ticketing, payments, forms, and email. We're not responsible for the premises, food, staff, or services of these businesses, and their own rules and terms may apply. Parking, transportation, and getting to and from events are your responsibility.
12. Personal belongings
Please keep your belongings with you. We're not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property at any event.
13. Changes to events
We may change an event's activities, format, schedule, host, or venue when needed, including for safety, weather, attendance, or venue reasons. We'll tell registered guests about significant changes by email. If we cancel or reschedule an event, our Refund & Cancellation Policy applies.
14. Using our website
- The Mahalla name, logo, text, and designs on this website belong to Mahalla Events LLC. You may share links and event information, but you may not copy our branding or content for commercial use without permission.
- Don't misuse the website, including by submitting false information, sending spam through our forms, or interfering with how the site works.
- Our website links to services run by others, such as our ticketing, form, and email providers. We're not responsible for their content or practices.
- The website and its content are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mahalla Events LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost time, travel costs, or emotional distress, arising from our events, website, or services. Our total liability for any claim relating to an event or ticket is limited to the amount you paid for that ticket.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
16. Your responsibility to us
You agree to cover Mahalla Events LLC, its owners, team members, and volunteers against claims, damages, and reasonable costs, including legal fees, that result from your breach of these terms, your conduct at or after an event, or your misuse of another attendee's information.
17. Resolving disputes
If you have a concern, please email us first at info@mahallaevents.com. Most issues can be resolved quickly and informally. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, and any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, except that either of us may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court.
18. General
- We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use our website or attend events after an update means you accept the updated terms. The terms in effect when you buy a ticket apply to that event.
- If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest stays in effect.
- These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Refund & Cancellation Policy, and any event-specific terms shown at registration, are the full agreement between you and us.
